Insorb : Incisive Surgical's Resorbable Skin Stapler
April 16th, 2005 | Filed under: Design, Future, Products | 3 Comments »
INSORB(R)|20 Subcuticular Skin Stapler, by Incisive Surgical, combines the advantages of absorbable sutures with speed of metal skin staplers. The biocompatible subcuticular staples are absorbed over a few months leaving only the slightest scar, compared to metal staples (see photos). If only these were around when I got stapled, I wouldn’t have a giant worm-like scar across my entire knee. Alas, the future will probably bring instant skin welding devices. Also see CloseX (simplified Steri-Strips-like device).
