Procedural content creation is here since games exist. Think randomly-generated levels, character customization, etc.
Every game’s value lies in it’s core mechanics. That’s what makes you addicted or not. Spore seems promising because it takes a lot of what we like from games and packages it into a uniform experience. Hopefully it will succed.
