New Songdo City, a man-made island being privately developed from the ground up by Gale International and POSCO E&C, is gaining much attention due to its contemporary nature and its willingness to experiment with ubiquitous technology from phase 1 to its completion of phase 5 in 2014. Dubbed ‘the Hong Kong of the 21st century’ or ‘Ubiquitous City’, the South Korean government’s scheme to attract multinational corporations with technology and a ‘Free Economic Zone’ will surely be something to watch.

Truly fascinating. The builder’s intentions become pretty obvious when you see some of the localities’ names: ‘Central Park’, ‘Park Avenue’, and the whole thing is ‘New Sangdo City’. Very Scifi anyway. Reminds me of several Future-Thrillers.
I love architecting and the best is that architecting and computer technology be together in a city which people feel as a prid from live in a very modern city.
Living in a city like this is my wish that never will be true and never i live in a city like this.

We would like to build the same kind of city in India, please guide.
Its a really big gamble, hope it doesnt end up like Brasilia U-city. But then again Sangdo city is back up by American comanys. The whole idea of Radio Frequency Identification is a great way to experiment on people and hopefully it would take off. Who knows one day RFID will be implied into cell phone and will be the new credit card technology of the up coming century.
